Once you reconnect to your Wi-Fi router, the sensor will be added to your network. The DCH-S160 uses the same mydlink Home app for iOS and Android as the DSP-W215 Smart Plug. It also shows up on your mydlink Web-based console as an installed device, but you can't view water detection logs or create rules; to do that you have to use the mobile app. The app opens with the My Devices page that lists all of your installed D-Link devices. If they are active they are listed with bold black lettering and if they are inactive or no longer installed they will appear grayed out.

The built-in siren is perfect for alerting you to a leak when you're home. And if you are not at home, the mydlink Wi-Fi Water Sensor will send push notifications to your iOS or Android device. The water detection sensor supplied with the DCH-S161 is designed specifically to detect water on contact. When water is detected, the sensor will trigger both an alarm siren and an alarm LED so you can both hear and see the warning. The sensor is at the end of a 1.8 m (5.9 ft) cable, allowing you to place the sensor anywhere that’s convenient.

Your browser is having problems connecting to the mydlink server. Leaks don’t always happen near an available outlet, that’s why they’ve designed their 1m extension cable. It can be extended even further using any Standard RJ-11 phone cable.
Long-Range Sensors
You can install the probe anywhere and it will help you detect water leaks before it turns into serious flooding. If the water sensor is triggered, a 90 dB alarm will sound and an LED will blink to give you audio and visual warnings. This summer, we had a problem with our water heater leaking. If I hadn’t gone in there by chance, it would have eventually leaked much, much worse. We decided to place our mydlink Water Sensor in the laundry room and use the extension it comes with for more reach. The house is secure, appliances unplugged and now safe from water leaks! I installed it in my basement and tested it by placing a single drop of water directly on the sensor cable, at which point the alarm sounded and a push notification was sent to my phone.
Installing the DCH-S160 is quick and easy, more so if you have a WPS router. Use the included mounting clips if you want to attach the cable to a wall. Next, scan the QR code on the included Quick Install card, then press the WPS button on your router and on the sensor to automatically add the sensor to your list. If you don't have a WPS router, connect your mobile device to the sensor's SSID, select it, and enter the password found on the card.

Easy to Set up
Mydlink™ Home allows you to start with a single smart device and add more when you want to. The DCH-S160 doesn't offer much in the way of settings. Tapping the sensor's icon takes you to a screen that shows a Last Detection tab and an Information tab.
The DCH-S160 contains two internal antennas and 802.11g/n wireless circuitry that connects to your home Wi-Fi router. It has an RG11 port on the side that connects to an included 3.2-foot RJ11 cable that has a dongle that attaches to the included 1.6-foot water-sensing cable. The water-sensing cable must make contact with the floor, so if the included RJ11 cable is too short you can use any RJ11 phone cable to extend its reach.
